What is affiliate marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is a collaboration between a person who promotes products (known as an affiliate) and an online store. The store pays the affiliate a commission for bringing in sales.

There are three main players in affiliate marketing: the affiliate, the store, and the customer. Everyone benefits – the store gets more sales, the affiliate earns money, and customers get special deals.

So, a digital marketer can also do affiliate marketing because they know a lot of ways to promote things, but not the contrary.

Digital marketing and affiliate marketing are the two most effective ways to market and make money from products.

However, which one is better for you depends on what you want to achieve and how much money you have to spend.

Affiliate marketing is often seen as a more accessible entry for beginners and suitable for freelancing. The key appeal here is the simplicity of promoting someone else’s products, rather than creating your own, which reduces your initial investment significantly. You can do it from anywhere, besides your full-time job.
